Singaporeans love going to Johor Bahru because they find things cheap there. But are cheap prices worth waking up early and braving the crowds at the Causeway because it always feels like half of Singapore is queueing with you at the customs. So, cheap in itself isn’t sufficient reason to make the trip up north. I feel that people would only give up their time if they find things that are value for money. And these are the three things that I thought were worth my time!
- 好运到 T-shirt from Padini
Chinese New Year is around the corner, and what better to usher it than a lion dance t-shirt? Prefect for my son to wear it to school for CNY celebrations. What’s more, the design pairs with the auspicious 好运到 saying. Sold for RM$33, this T-shirt comes in sizes that are suitable for children aged 2 to 11.
- Iced thunder tea milk from 客人来
The appeal of travelling stems from exploring new flavours. You may or may not like thunder tea, but you should not give this Lei Cha Milk Tea a miss. It’s interesting how the earthly flavours of thunder tea blend so seamlessly with the sweetness of milk. Yours for the sipping for RM$14!
- Seafood noodles from 海脚人
Seafood lovers, rejoice! I got this bowl of seafood beehoon (you can choose seafood porridge instead) for just RM$33.90. It came with crab, clams, prawns and squids. I actually had to use my hands to dig out the crab meat, so I was really thrilled with the generous portions!
