Today’s regulators and lawmakers in Washington are no doubt embarrassed that they failed to stop the criminals of crypto. DC is demanding scalps.
I like Caitlin Long's commentary but I chuckled a bit when I read this. SBF and his family are deeply intertwined with Washington, DC. Gensler and his softball approach are only the tip of the Washington mess. SBF's family was involved in the scam and moving around the money that ultimately acted as a slush fund.
The "regulators and lawmakers in Washington" were greased by that slush fund money, and so yes, they're embarrassed but not because they "failed to stop the criminals". Much much worse than that.
