hahah yeah this makes total sense. a family member told me that i've been saying "I just need to do X and then it'll be ready" for a while now. it's all good though, I just need to refactor how loot works a little and then it'll be ready ;)
but joking aside, will defo start focusing on the soft stuff very soon, start getting onto growing out the active user base and zooming in on PMF, and also start making money through a few eBay integration tools i built into the app. excited to see what comes next.
Attracting other sellers will get the ball rolling. There's a guy on SN that used to auction a lot of old Weimar bank notes.
I don't know your long term plans, but I like the focus on old money. I'd keep that for as long as possible if you can find demand for it. Then if that takes off you have everything built for auctioning other stuff; kind of like how Amazon started with books.
the selling angle will be interesting. it's going to take a slightly different form to other marketplaces. plunda will act as a custodian of all collectibles (but potentially down the line also partner with some highly trusted sellers) so anyone selling collectibles via plunda will first need to ship them all to the plunda.co HQ for processing, photographing and grading.
so taking your Amazon example a step further, plunda will essentially offer a comprehensive Amazon-esque fulfilment service for collectibles. Or something like that. The idea being to offer a much more comprehensive service than legacy marketplaces like eBay, while keeping fees competitive with said legacy marketplaces. So it'll hopefully be an attractive alternative. However, there's some real trust required there, so it might take some time to build up a strong and trust-worthy reputation.
users will be able to deposit their collectibles for sale via plunda at the end of the first quarter of 2026 (hopefully). v excited to get the ball rolling with that. in the mean time all collectibles will be listed by me and are supplied to me via some trusted coin dealers who i'm partnered with. that way I can seed the marketplace with 1000s of collectibles to get the ball rolling too, and also sell them via eBay to keep things ramen profitable until the plunda marketplace takes off.
but yeah, also a ton of fun loot features to build, and collector facing features too! but most of those will wait until there's a few more users who can be my sample set and provide feedback.
Yes indeed!!
No clue. It’s all part of my plan. I am going to support your development efforts the best I can. In 2026!
Thus me buying loot and giving it a way. Even the expensive loot.
Plunda is fun reminds me of playing an old 1990s RPG.
Having experienced developers quit or on a number of bitcoin projects/games I really do hope you stick around.
really appreciate you and your high spirited positivity 👍
I'll do my best, have a solid plan, and avoiding burn out by taking breaks when needed.
yeah those games are a big inspiration. will be leaning a little more into that direction in the next update. excited to get that built.
it'll be interesting to see where things end up with plunda. there's lots of experimenting to do to find a path to solid product market fit, maybe it'll involve some interesting pivots.
It's a cool site I'd like to spend more time on
I wanna collect all the wheat pennies! Relics of a past age.
ahhh yeasss!! that's cool to hear!
will have a new collection feature coming in the next big update. it'll be a new type of loot: The Coin Album.
you'll be able to build a proper collection with it, by adding assets you own to a digital album. that way you can track missing dates and keep your assets organised inside the album, instead of just having them all mixed up in your assets page.
stay tuned and thanks for the interest 🙂
