Glad to give my take but I am not and do not claim to be an expert in the workings of the CCP.
It is known Xi has long used charges of corruption to remove potential threats and whether this is what this is I do not know...it may depend upon how you define corruption!
Xis apparent/stated intolerance for corruption is something many of his supporters in China admire.
There is naturally an inherent problem with corruption in any autocracy.

China is building up its military capability rapidly and is seeking to match if not surpass the US in this respect and so having their military command structure free of any potential conflict with Xi would seem imperative.
China clearly understands that when the west talks about 'free trade' it is only where it is of benefit to the west that is is allowed...and when it does not suit the west then the west will bring out its cannons.

Funny because just before seeing this post I was on predyx placing a bet that Xi would be removed this year- but only because the odds offered were so good 20:1!
Who would want to be the worlds 2nd(?) most powerful autocrat?
How do they sleep at night?

Ladies and Gentlemen please place your bets!
