By my count we're in round 5 of this tiresome cycle:
- Don't listen to those unpatriotic libertarians, we need to invade the Middle East real quick and strip you of your privacy to stop the terrorists.
- Don't listen to those crazy libertarians, we need to bail out the banks and add a ton of regulations to save the economy.
- Don't listen to those bigoted libertarian conspiracy theorists, we need to censor speech to counter mis/dis/malinformation and protect minorities (or something).
- Don't listen to those dangerous libertarians, we need to shut down the entire economy and inject everyone with experimental medications to save grandma from a nasty cold.
- Don't listen to those pussy libertarians, we need to unleash a giant unaccountable militarized federal police force on America's streets to roundup those illegals.
Can we ever just try listening to the stupid libertarians, instead of the people who keep being wrong about everything?
Twitter's one helluva drug
muricans should listen over and over the warning from Yuri Bezmenov.
What he said decades ago, now it became norm...
YOU ARE BEING PLAYED EVERY FUCKING DAY, OVER AND OVER
Don't tell me what to do!
I was trying to pinpoint why this issue started annoying me so much and I think it's because it's this social pattern playing out again.
I guess it really comes down to whether you can oppose government action, even when it's for a cause that you support.
I’d state it differently.
It’s about whether you can distinguish between the actions that were taken and the official reason given for them.
When you vote a politician you lose that right.
"Don't listen to those dangerous libertarians, we need to shut down the entire economy and inject everyone with experimental drugs to save Grandma from a nasty cold."
In my opinion, this is the funniest one.
And I think another season of invasions of the Middle East is coming...
Yeah, but those invasions are a continuation of number one
Trust the plan bro.
Libertarians are just another statists pussies.
Let's go to basics
That's a very Rothbardian point
I like to see the world from a simple and basic POV.
That's why politics never corrupted me.
funny how different libertarians are defined and seen across the see. Here, some of 'em actually are in extreme fear from the middle east and have tons of support for Donald and AI superpowers.
Americas wealth is built upon its military and institutional power projection at least as much, if not more so than its 'free markets'.
The petrodollar is based on and backed by the military power projection capacity of USA.
The wealth of nations has always been determined by the ability of their governments to advance the interests of their merchants via diplomacy and brute force.
Delusional Libertarians who tell you all that matters is 'free markets' are misguided at best and more often dangerous in their ignorance of the true nature of politics and economics.
Without strong principled government there is little security and there are insufficient property rights for capitalism to function optimally.
