What's the point of this compared to a simple LN invoice?

A LN invoice looks like this:

lnbc110n1p5h5dxwpp5vjt8sr0q33pwjmljhaaq0vydnn4q0lwuzyujpvah6s026j48xpfsdqjgdk82c3qfaexzmn8v5cqzzsxqyz5vqsp50ex0yedtfk0vc2rqx4cysxr5452e78n7j9n3uhdeznhk7gj4qvsq9p4gqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqpqysgqa3cruk9amaru2zuqauvnznmtsrw604lfv4htgz40zjfx24p0xzeq4lfme6cwc3w54csrsj90z9eyd69qmen09uw3un7dtfp0duyl0qcqkqgyq2

You can’t scan it.
You can’t click it.
And most people don’t know what to do with it.

A payment link looks like a normal link.
You tap it.
You pay in one click.
Done.

Ever heard of a LNURL Pay?

reply

Yep, LNURL-Pay is great.

Payment Links are basically LNURL-Pay, but packaged in a way normal people actually use: a simple link, one-click pay on mobile, QR on desktop, with expiry and sharing built in.

reply

It's just a web page to display the invoice, custodial at that...

reply

Not really, we take an invoice and we make it scannable and/or clickable so that's super easy to pay it.

reply

You take an invoice and put it on a web page. QR's are scannable because they're already standardized.

reply

Yes, we turn an invoice into a shareable, clickable link.

That sounds trivial until you realize it removes device juggling, wallet incompatibility, and UX friction for normal users.

Same Lightning rails but much easier to pay.

reply

Pretty easy when its custodial, if you want to make it non-custodial then check out clinkme.dev

reply

We built a wallet directly into Club Orange after realizing ~80% of our users had never used Lightning (!). Whether we like it or not, custodial is the only way to bring LN to the masses, but you can withdraw to a non-custodial wallet anytime, any amount.
