I was already interested in Zenneck-Sommerfeld results, named after same Sommerfeld of the fine-structure constant.
We truly live in a fascinating time.

“The energy wasn’t free; it had to be unlocked using knowledge purchased with energy in a far-off location. From this perspective, Hotta’s procedure looked less like creation and more like teleportation of energy from one place to another — a strange but less offensive idea.”

Would be interesting to know the exact power input needed compared to expended, how it scales. There were also fusion breakthroughs recently, as well as the Nature article I posted here about Earth-based energy transmission. Exciting time to be alive.
Kinda silly turn of phrase "strange but less offensive idea"... as if the universe / God cares about our shock and offense... they burned people back in the day for being right and offending the current understanding of things. When it come to advancing math / physics, I think the policy should err on the side of "shock and awe"
