I recently celebrated with my wife's family. We celebrated my mother-in-law's birthday and then my wife's birthday 🎂.
Here in South America, most people tend to drink excessively, have parties with many guests, even people they don't know, lots of noise, and other things that usually involve a lot of other people.
We break away from that mold. We like small gatherings in pleasant places without much fuss.
When we were out of the country, on these special occasions, we traveled to places like the beach, the forest, a park, or something else, looking to go to new places and learn more about our surroundings.
This year was different. Due to work and other obligations, we couldn't organize anything like that.
So, on both occasions, we went to a restaurant.
For my mother-in-law's birthday, we went to a place for a barbecue, and everything was great: the service, the food, and the conversation in general.
A funny anecdote is that when we asked for the bill to leave, we saw they were charging us less than half the actual bill. We joked about the mistake and then called the waiter over to point it out. Grateful for us to tell them about the bill error, they brought us some snacks while we were still there. Finally, we cut the cake and went home around midnight.
Then... For my wife's birthday, we went to a burger restaurant because she wanted to try some she saw on social media. My daughter wanted pizza for dinner, and they also made it there, so we went.
Just like the previous place, everything was very good. However, this time the waitress mixed up my wife's order, and we thought they were going to ruin dinner. The manager approached the table, cleared up the confusion, and everything continued smoothly. Then they offered us a complimentary dessert, which was a pleasant surprise—my wife's favorite.
We ended the meeting with a toast, an extraordinary dinner, and some photos to remember the occasion.
