Rough story. I'm sorry to hear they turned out to be scammers. At this point, I have to admit it seems like any hosted mining setup is just not worth it. At best profits are eaten away by costs and fees. At worst it's just a scam.

Thanks for sharing your story for the rest of us.

Yea, expensive lesson for sure...

you should set up a kickstarter?

I will donate

That is very generous of you. I will see what happens after Proto/Block Inc. legal team has reviewed the case. I sent them all the evidence on their request, so that might lead to some kind of resolution if they put pressure on OneMiners.

If not, my "AI Grok lawyer" has suggested different legal paths like a small claim suit in Texas, which is apparently not too expensive.

Since this is my mistake, I own it, and I would rather avoid taking sats from other people because of it.

donations are not theft

it's not like Somalis in Somalia or MN

reply

Lol, agreed. I can handle small legal fees myself, but maybe I will set up a Geyser crowdfunding if needed, or something similar...

Geyser, even better

or send us your lightning address

or do both

reply

didn't Geyser fold recently?

I looked into hosting with a couple guys in Iowa

They have a YouTube channel and they belong to a couple Mining groups on Telegram

I decided not to because of the capital expense

You should check out Rigly or Braiins for buying and leasing hashrate, i.e. mining without buying any equipment
