Recent discriminatory practices by activists targeting people without "cowboy essentials" (primarily, those without guns), is having materially deleterious effects on the quality of discourse on Stacker News.
Since I believe that a post should be judged on its own merits, and not on whether the poster has an attached wallet or not, I have decided to hide my cowboy essentials as a form of protest, to make it more difficult and more expensive for activists to continue downzapping everyone without cowboy essentials.
If you agree with my position, I invite you to join me in protest by going to Settings and checking the box for Hide my cowboy essentials.
I seem to have missed this activism movement. The idea of hiding my cowboy essentials definitely takes some of the fun factor out of sn, but I suppose I’m here primarily for knowledge and what-not.

There has always been a practice by some of boosting their posts using sock puppets.
This unfairly discriminates against all others...demoting their posts down to obscurity.
