I don't think it will end, but I know how to beat it: with stability. I've taken over some specific "lazy" (more like half-lazy) FOSS projects and have now spent years on removing debt and maybe-working lazy solutions. It's a thankless job and financially a complete self-own. If however you can break with pressure-to-ship because you ship reliable software, and have shown to be able to do this consistently, then you'll be consolidated towards, rather than be consolidated away from.
Low time preference for everything except fixing bugs.

i imagine yolo dev culture will end much worse than lazy/incompetent dev culture. they're still lazy/incompetent. their customers just can't tell as easily.
