Since coming up with my hard scifi idea of dumping central banks gold on Mars (so that Central Bankers are turned into Space nerds and no more Social experimenters. Now that would be a cool transformation), I now think this idea is even more swell.
Consider Netherlands' recent 35% tax on unrealized gains.
That's a bunch of grown ups thinking they can invent wealth by twidling around with a calculator on other people’s property.
They simply guess that somebody is dodging taxes, and turn a peaceful property ownership into a forced fiat market sell-off (so that they can collect "tax").

I might be a scifi buff but I dare say I'm the only one using my brain cells between the two of us.
Firstly, no new wealth is made when you force someone to liquidate their property.
Existing wealth is destroyed via a mock negotiation. They might as well just be the buyer on the other end giving fake paper for real value. Destructive communist vibes from Stalinist times.

The way to make wealth is to create demand for that property.
Let's say it's gold.
It has gone up in value from $2000 when I bought it to $6000 per ounce.
If the government is to actually increase value, they should buy that gold from me for $6000 and move it to Mars via a lot of expensive rocketry stuff.
Yeah, a small depression might need to be suffered (or is it hyperinflation? As they'll just be minting money to build rockets) but the end result is a Capital R-Rocket that can move this gold to space for the next 4 to 5 years until it is close enough to earth that it is then picked up by a Retriever Rocket.
Things gained:

1. rockets
2. demand for space gold
3. Telescopes that can track this gold
4. More interest in space
5. A way to give Elon the bird coz I honestly think Space Gold will give Space AI a good run for the return on unrealized gains.
6. Most importantly, you don't get to hurt other people’s property. You leave the average joe on earth with his small time games, while you play god mode with space rocks.

It doesn't have to be limited to gold.
Consider a rare platinum pile on the moon, massive gold resevers on the moon, rare crystals grown in zero-g labs, maybe some super rare museum stuff on the moon.
Let's actually realize that SpaceX is the future of global business and give Elon Musk more money (give him the $1T already) so he can teach us all his tricks then we outsmart him then we solve these fiat shenanigans for real realized gains all by our selves. Broke Americans, Broke Africans, Broke Europeans, Broke Chinese, anybody who wants to get to a grand future and is stuck between a rock and a very hard but thick-headed money printer.
Leave the rock ya'll. Fly into space!
