IMO it's a net-gain with severe and acute losses, offset by severe and more general gains.
Is information provided by a human worth more than content providing the same information without any humanness?
If value is subjective, it depends on the content consumer. If we're speaking about the average consumer, I'd guess they want what they want - stronger, faster, better, cheaper, more pleasurable - without caring much about the source. It's like Temu vs mom-and-pop retail but with information.
If so, how come we wouldn't be able to filter for that difference?
There won't be a discernible difference anymore than there's discernible difference in a well made counterfeit designer handbag. Yet folks still want and manage to get real designer handbags. The designer and resellers jump through authentication hoops to make that happen because the environment, on its own, made trust scarce.
The hoops that we have on the pseudonymous internet are relatively limited. Our relationships are relatively ephemeral. Our identity is relatively variable, curate-able and controllable. KYC is the best is-this-distant-stranger-human-? authentication we have on the internet and being information itself, it's vulnerable too.
