Allowing concealment of wallet status is enabling people to virtue signal about BTC/LN use and adoption while in reality concealing the fact that they are minimising their actual use of it here on SNs.

That is enabling hypocrisy.

Can you define what you mean by enabling? You may accept a broader definition than I would.

reply

1 : to provide with the means or opportunity

2 : to make possible, practical, or easy

SNs is enabling users to conceal LN wallet status while virtue signalling that they are a BTC Maxi and posting content promoting Bitcoin use and adoption.

SNs is thus enabling the concealment of hypocrisy.

Thank you. By that definition, yes, I am indirectly enabling concealment of what you, not me, have labelled hypocrisy.

Ok you dont see posting pro bitcoin adoption content and virtue signalling that you are a BTC Maxi perhaps even claiming to be 'living on The Bitcoin Standard' but not actually using and showing that you are using Bitcoin to the maximum extent reasonably possible yourself, but rather, in reality minimising your use of it, and concealing this, as hypocrisy.

We seem to see what hypocrisy is, differently.

'The practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess; falseness.
An act or instance of such falseness.'

I think one can claim to be:

  • a BTC Maxi
  • 'living on The Bitcoin Standard'

And not:

  • attach a wallet to SN

And not:

  • be a hypocrite

If they weren't on a bitcoin standard, or weren't a btc maxi, then I'd agree they're a hypocrite, but I cannot conclude that from them not attaching a wallet to SN.

Yes it is surely possible...but not imo likely enough to consider that person credible on the balance of probabilities.

But, we see things differently, and I appreciate your PoV which appears to lean more toward giving people the benefit of the doubt.

I lean more toward the maxim - do not trust- verify - especially where someone is offering content and I am considering sending V4V payments to them but do not want to send to someone who appears to be a hypocrit from my PoV.

Each to their own seems to be the conclusion.
Thanks for your responses.
