using sats stacked from stacker news to buy stuff in the world is so awesome

I took some sats I earned from stacker... (Over an lnaddress to my own node) from some articles I wrote and went to steak n shake and bought fries.

It blew my mind

sats stacked on SN have been funding my hosting fees for my website for two years. it's so cool!

reply

so you feel good being a statist getting other people money that weren't destined to you.

reply

That's like saying the grocery store is a statist... Because they get money that 'doesn't belong to them?'

People give them money in exchange for other things

I think in your head commerce is the same as subsidy LOL, go back to school.

Would you like that a grocery store is taking your money even that you do not buy and receive anything from the shop and they give the products to somebody else that doesn't even pay for anything?

SN rewards pool is taking a cut from everybody and redistribute it to others.
When I zap somebody for a post I zap it directly because I like what they post.
When somebody receive rewards from the pool, is not that I want to zap that user, but I still pay it. That's not fair.

I am not against paying to post, but the opposite, I SUSTAIN IT! But the SN fees must go to SN only not going back to random users that initially I didn't want to zap.

Make SN a real V4V and pay to post. because right now, people are posting and zapping EXACTLY because they know that end of day will receive extra sats. That is a total assmilking.

reply

I'm not sure.

I like stacker the way it is now. Not because of the 'assmilkers' but because it is so unique.

If I contribute posts thoughtfully in a way that people enjoy, why shouldnt I get a few sats back?

Just to be clear that's not why I post, I post because stacker news is awesome... But I think people who contribute to the platform meaningfully should see some kind of value returned.

What's the difference between that... And getting sats "directly" from others in posts?

getting sats "directly" from others in posts?

That is real V4V.
If I zap you now 100 sats, 30% goes to SN rewards pool, rewarding user that I do not want initially to zap. That means theft. If the sats goes to SN pockets only, I am perfectly fine with that.

You must prove to me first, if you deserve my sats.
As I said, if you agree to receive subsidies from rewards pool, why don't you just forward all the sats you get from a post to 10-20-30 SN users?
When people will see to who you are redirecting the sats, will think twice if they will zap you or not.

reply

Isn't that 30% there to keep posters from zapping themselves, as the anti-sybil?

???

That is like saying: Is so cool that my holidays are paid with gov subsidies, taken from other people taxes (aka theft).

My first lightning wallet was actually SN, back when they were custodial.

I think my first purchase made over lightning was from the custodial SN wallet.

Personally, I'd support SN going back to custodial (!!). I know the legal headache might not be worth it, but I think it was a great introduction to lightning.
