The reductions will affect divisions across the company and could be implemented by the end of this month.
Oracle disclosed the restructuring plan in September 2025, estimating the cost at $1.6 billion, more than double the previous record of $630 million in 2015.
Meanwhile, $ORCL free cash flow is projected to turn DEEPLY negative from 2026 through 2029 as data center spending ramps up.
Last month, Oracle announced plans to raise up to $50 billion this year through a combination of debt and equity to fund the buildout.
The stock is down -54% from its September 2025 peak as the market sours on the rising costs.
This comes as the company had ~162,000 employees globally, with some cuts targeting roles that Oracle expects AI will replace.
Oracle is not alone. Microsoft cut ~15,000 jobs last year, and Block laid off nearly half its staff last week, both citing AI-related cost pressures.
