First leg will kick off at 6:45 PM CET in Istanbul, where Liverpool will try to avoid Juventus' fate in the previous round. Italian side lost 5-2 against the Turkish team which complicated the second leg in Italy. A few months ago, Galatasaray already beat the English side 1-0 on Matchday 2. Liverpool is almost 20 points behind Arsenal in the Premier League so they may be focusing on this contest instead. Will Galatasaray be able to repeat the surprise from the previous round?

Surprising Atalanta, after coming back a 2-0 loss in Dortmund in the previous round, goes back to Germany. This time, a tougher rival, Bayern München, is waiting with the second leg to take place in Munich. Bayern is clearly dominating the Bundesliga, 11 points ahead of Dortmund. They have played 18 consecutive years the round of 16 and only lost 2 matches out of the last 24 played.

An interesting Newcastle vs Barcelona will measure how La Liga is performing. Spanish side is at the top of the table , meanwhile the Magpies are currently 12th in the Premier League. Barça already beat them in the first round of the Group Stage (2-1). If Pedri, Lamine and Raphinha are at their expected level, it seems difficult that Newcastle could beat them. However, Anthony Gordon , 10 goals this year, will try to push his team towards QFs.

Finally, a second head to head matchup between La Liga and Premier League. Atletico will play against Tottenham in Madrid. The English side is close to the bottom of the Premier League, just one point clear from relegation. I am not sure if they are really focused on avoiding it or enjoying a Champions League match. They have lost their last 5 matches in their local league. On the other side, Atletico is relatively comfortable at the 3rd place in La Liga and beat Barça to go through to the Final in the King's Cup in Spain, last week.
