Skanska to build $165m biology building for Texas A&M university

Skanska USA has won a deal to build a new biology teaching and research building in College Station, Texas, for US$165 million.

The project is for Texas A&M University, which is a repeat client of Skanska’s.

The 17,200 sq m facility will replace several outdated biology buildings, some of which are more than 70 years old.

It will feature research laboratories, active learning classrooms, technology spaces, and dedicated collaboration zones to support advanced biological and biomedical research.

The Texas A&M University System board approved a capital plan for the building in August 2025.

Last year, the university said it expected the building to cost $220 million.

The project is set to start in spring 2027 and reach completion in spring 2029.
