Eddie Gaedel, standing 3'7" and weighing 65 lbs, is the only little person to play in Major League Baseball, appearing for the St. Louis Browns on August 19, 1951. As a publicity stunt by owner Bill Veeck, Gaedel pinch-hit, walked on four pitches due to his tiny strike zone, and was immediately banned by the American League.

But what about the National League?

MLB has to approve all contracts now so I don't think you can sneak one in. I did discover only people with dwarfism are banned and there is no minimum height requirement so if you could find someone who is not technically a dwarf but really short (like a jockey) you might be in business.

Are women barred from MLB? There are some really short women.

reply

Nope. Women are not banned. I think you found a loophole.

For the sake of spectacle, send her out with a great big wooden rolling pin, instead of a bat.
