Not being a father, that didn't land as squarely. Also, having quite literally gone into the world in rags, I might conclude it's a fine way to show up. As programmers say: it worked for me.
I did resonate with not wanting to be ignored though. At least, I want control over being ignored.

I didn't know the term hapax legomenon. Now I'm going to think about it and probably include one in a good post.
Right after he tells the Julia Child story, he says:
This is a thing I hadn't considered before. I think I have been a derelict parent to my ideas and am ashamed. That they should be saddled with such a father as me is troubling. Not that any of us should claim fame as a right, but that perhaps spurning it (either because we are afraid it will evade us if we let on we are trying for it or because we think it shallow and lacking importance) may be doing a disservice to our ideas.
