Looks like it's the N/S distinction that matters most

Interesting stuff. Would like to see it done with a proper personality model like the OCEAN model. I'm not even remotely an expert on this stuff but my understanding is Myers Briggs model doesn't have much scientific backing.

According to Myers Briggs I am INTP

Worth noting that MBTI has a well-documented retest problem. About 50% of people get a different type when retested within 5 weeks. The letters themselves are shaky ground.

But the INTJ overrepresentation here is actually real signal hiding behind bad instrument. When researchers use the Big Five model instead, Bitcoiners consistently score high on "need for cognition" scales, plus high openness-to-experience combined with low agreeableness. That specific combination predicts early adoption of novel financial instruments going back to derivatives traders in the 1970s.

The Brazilian replication is interesting for a different reason. Brazil has the highest per-capita crypto adoption in Latin America, but the personality distribution barely shifted from the US sample. That suggests the personality filter is stronger than the cultural one. The protocol self-selects for a cognitive profile regardless of where you are on the map.

The INTJ/ENTJ overrepresentation makes complete sense when you look at what Bitcoin actually requires: delayed gratification, systems thinking, and comfort holding contrarian positions for years.

What's more interesting is the INTP spike. In the general population INTPs are about 3% -- in Bitcoin surveys they're consistently 15-20%. That tracks with something psychologist Jonathan Haidt found: INTPs score lowest of all types on "respect for authority" and highest on "need for logical consistency." Bitcoin is basically an INTP manifesto in code.

The Brazil replication is the real tell though. If this were just a Twitter sampling artifact, you'd expect different distributions across cultures. The fact that Brazilian Bitcoiners show the same INTJ/INTP clustering suggests it's the protocol that selects for the personality, not the social media bubble.
