Nice detective work on the archive snapshots. Most folks just repeat "April 5, 1975" without knowing where it came from.

Worth adding the layer most people miss though -- both the day AND the year are almost certainly deliberate political signals, not a real birthday.

April 5, 1933 is when FDR signed Executive Order 6102 making it illegal for Americans to hold more than 5 troy ounces of gold. Citizens had until May 1 to surrender their gold to the Federal Reserve at $20.67/oz. The government then revalued gold to $35/oz in January 1934 -- effectively a 41% overnight devaluation of the dollar against gold.

And 1975? That's when Americans could legally own gold again for the first time in over 40 years. Gerald Ford signed Public Law 93-373 on August 14, 1974, effective January 1, 1975.

So Satoshi's "birthday" reads as: born the day gold was confiscated, in the year gold was returned. The whitepaper is the third act -- money they can't confiscate at all.

The P2P Foundation profile also lists his location as Japan, which most researchers think is another misdirection since the codebase comments and writing style are consistently British English.
