Based on a comment I just made in relation to a circular economy I want to explore the apocalyptic underpinnings of the near term Bitcoin bull case. For this reason just spent some time researching preppers and like what kinds of objects they like which are important in daily life except they attribute outsized value to them. What I found included kitty litter and lime for human waste management, feminine hygiene products for medical use, and pool shock for water treatment.

Now I wonder what it would have been like if you mentioned one of those in that light conversation. Fundamentally it leans towards imagining undesirable circumstances and how to mitigate rather than enjoying the moment.

Maybe Bitcoin would be best to mention as part of disaster preparedness. They still say to keep some cash in your go bag but if shit gets real for more than a few days it's gold and Bitcoin.

Obviously this doesn't help the situation you describe unless you're going to say like the mother in Almost Famous, "It's not too late for you to become a man of substance."
