We got access to an early buying window for LA residents. My single minded goal was to maximize my chances of seeing the Men's USA Basketball Team play. Unfortunately, all elimination stage games were sold out, thus I had to try and maximize my chances of buying a group-stage ticket that they'd play in.
The tricky part is: the exact matchup schedules aren't released, but when you buy a ticket you're buying a ticket to a specific session on a specific date and time. You thus have to try and guess if Team USA is going to play in that slot.
Using the reasoning that Team USA will probably be placed in the prime broadcast slot (6pm PT / 9pm ET), I ended up buying three sessions on different dates for that time slot (including Opening Day).
Being in LA has its perks I guess.
That’s cool. Hopefully you get to see Canada as well.
I'd love it if the 3 games turned out to be USA-Canada, USA-Serbia, and USA-France. Probably very unlikely since they're group play games.
Good luck! That would be a cool experience
Thanks! I had a fun time researching which games would have the highest probability of having Team USA, including some background research into how the games have been scheduled in past olympics
