I strode smugly to the bus stop because I had managed to leave the house earlier than usual. I was already envisioning how I would set multiple questions for the P6 Foundation Science Prelim Paper during my one-hour break.

Boarded the bus. Moved to take the sandwich out of my son’s bento box.

Except that it wasn’t inside his bag. He had neglected to bring it.

My face instantly darkened, my blood rapidly boiling. I grunted agitatedly, shocked that my son had let me down just like that.

I guess it was fated because I happened to have a workshop today. Begrudgingly trudged my way home to take the bento box — and scurried back to school.

“Sorry,” the wife said apologetically. My fuming heart was still pounding, but I managed a cheerful “It’s all right!”

Raising a child inevitably takes up more time than you would expect because someone is bound to screw up in the process. (In this case, it was my wife.) Luckily, I had the presence of mind not to make a mountain out of a molehill.
