After seeing over a hundred people attend Tokyo Bitcoin Base’s one-year anniversary, I started thinking some might be interested in a Japanese-language territory here. After discovering that territory names can’t be in Japanese, I found that there had already been one called Japan. I’ll probably revive it for at least a month, but was curious if anyone remembers the first time around and how active it was. I assume there wasn’t enough to make it economical, but can anyone think of a reason I shouldn’t try my luck?

Do it because you think it’s important not because it’s profitable

I was one of the most active posters on ~Japan because I lived for two years in Kumamoto and had amassed tons of articles detailing my observations and experiences. They weren’t very well received in terms of zaps haha. While some Stackers live in Japan (@chungkingexpress comes to mind), I don’t think they are very active on SN. Still, if you were to give it a shot for one month, pls know that I will support you

weird i never saw it come up. Just got back from my 4th trip and now in my post-japan depressive state...

somewhat related, I'm loving based Japanese twitter now that their tweets are getting auto-translated.

I remember how you lost your cowboy hat because you were travelling in Japan

Yeah that was my first time. Came back two more times but mostly acted as a tour guide for others. This was first time venturing outside of the golden route.

nice! which parts did you go to?

I love(d) travelling alone. can’t do it because of my kids, but hope to resume it when they have left the nest

Day trip to Nikko up north to see if I could catch the tail end of cherry blossom season (mostly gone), then went to Uji, Kobe, Himeji castle, then trekked a bit further west to Hiroshima, Kokura and Fukuoka.

Growing up in Hawaii taking annual field trips to the Pearl Harbor memorial it was quite moving to see the Hiroshima memorials on the other side war. Crazy stuff. Incredible people to bounce back from being literally nuked.

After going to Okonomimura got pretty wasted in a random bar buying drinks for some locals and salarymen and met some very interesting people. I really need to get my language skills above 3 year old level lol.

Miyajima island and the tori gate there is beautiful!

Thanks! Good to know.

Give it a shot for a month. Maybe you can recruit some Japanese bitcoiners to join SN.

I shall!

I'd be interested in a territory like that.

Try your luck.
