Through 35 games this year, MLB teams have used a total of 559 pitchers. 557 total pitchers were used in the entirety of the 1998 season, which was the first year with 30 teams.

I’m not sure how this can be solved? Little League has been actively trying to protect young arms and discouraging spin until they are more mature. Looks like trying to throw a bazillion instead might actually be worse.

It’s so bad this year. We need robot umps and robot pitchers.

Until teams start drafting and paying for guys who pitch 180+ healthy innings with average stuff, this continues.

I personally love watching a command-first pitcher. I don’t care if the next pitch is 102: walks send me into a blind rage.
