There's been a free, no-premine version of it available for 10 years. It's called BIP 300/301. If bitcoiners don't want to adopt it, fine, but this isn't really about the premine, it's just people opposing drivechains for the typical reasons.

I get it. fwiw I was only trying to figure whether the premine motivations were atypical.

I'm excited to see how it goes.

I am too. Bitcoin has the benefits of brand name, history, and network effects.

However, Paul has fixed two mistakes that BCH made, in retrospect:

  1. There is no replay protection at the start.
  2. Only 3 changes from Bitcoin Core: a 90% blocksize decrease, BIP 300, BIP 301.

Everything else will remain the same as Core, and they'll even periodically rebase with new versions.

This essentially eliminates all core protocol development cost, and makes the choice between the two coins more straightforward. And its base layer will be more decentralized over the long run because of smaller blocks.

So, at the end of the day, it'll be Bitcoin's network effects advantages vs. eCash's (in my opinion) superior technology: a network of drivechain L2's.

There will be seven sidechains at launch:

  1. Thunder- big blocks/low fees
  2. Truthcoin- decentralized prediction market (actually decentralized, unlike Kalshi or Polymarket or Predyx. The truthcoin oracle has no singular point of failure.)
  3. Zside- zcash clone privacy chain
  4. Bitassets- NFTs, etc.
    some others...

And anyone with a creative idea can launch one in the future, instead of starting an altcoin.
