If you are a small-time/home miner, buying mining hardware is notoriously difficult. It's easy to get scammed and end up with some knock off piece of crap that doesn't work.

The BItaxe guys recently updated their website with an improved legit-list of vendors:

And they also set up a github so you can see how they make this list:

Vendors can open PRs requesting to be included in the list, but

Final inclusion is always at maintainer discretion and based on community trust, listing quality, and alignment with the Bitaxe open-source ecosystem.

Users can submit reviews and requests to remove vendors.

It's not exactly rocket science, but I think the Bitaxe guys have done an okay job of trying to manage things like this and I'm curious to see how this works for them.
