Three episodes in (haven't watched today's), this is one of my favorite shows of the year. It's a horror comedy, but it's not a sitcom like Ghosts, more a slightly dry tone. It's about a small island community with a dark past. It stars Matthew Rhys playing a much less threatening character than on The Americans or The Beast in Me, the mayor of the community and someone who is slowly becoming convinced that the town's scary mythology might be real. It's got the great Stephen Root as the cranky oldster who knows the dark truth, and they play off each other beautifully.

I don't know the rest of the cast from anywhere, but they've all been amazing so far. The show doles out the horror slowly - up until late in episode 3, you could argue that everything was rumor or just a dream - and it manages to be laugh-out-loud funny at times in spite of the dark stuff. Episode 3's denouement manages to be funny and horrific at the same time in a way few things manage.

It's on Apple TV (and I'm sure can be accessed easily elsewhere if you have the know-how), and has dropped four episodes so far.
