Today, I chose self-care. And it fuelled my soul and made it refreshingly different from my mundane life.
Shortly after dismissal, I packed my stuff and ambled gleefully to the MRT station, leaving my laptop at school. Brimming with anticipation at the thought of hanging out with my ex-colleague, I patted myself on the back for having the capacity to plan this meetup a month ago.
The conversation flowed easily, much like water trickling down a stream. Calm and tranquil, yet full of life force. I was heartened to be reminded that there is more to life than the PSLE shroud engulfing my miserable existence these days. Sigh.
Lest I pity myself too much, I will move on to share how I picked up the daughter at 6.30pm. It wasn’t early by any stretch of the imagination, but she was tickled pink. And pleased as punch that she wasn’t the last pupil left. That ought to score me brownie points for parenting.
And oh, I did write a compo for the sixth graders on my way back to Yishun. Such is my work ethic.
