What are the government’s expenses to be in net loss? Security?
Usually there’s a lot of spending on making everything look nicer, which can include expensive infrastructure upgrades.
Also, congestion is a big cost that’s hard to measure.
I see. Intangible gains are tough to measure too, like marketing (Everyone in the world’s gonna hear/see about the US, this time for a good reason!).
Don’t be so sure the press will be positive
Olympics are a loss because they need to build a ton of venues, temporary housing. They need to restructure the way a city runs for two weeks and provide security for all of it. I am sure there are additional costs to world cup compared to regular sporting events but I don't think it is on the scale of the Olympics.
I imagine it will end up being a net loss, like the Olympics and basically all other sporting events.
