Users can now connect their Strava accounts to our app and earn points for their steps. Proof of Walk!

1000 points = 100 sats, redeemable over Lightning ⚡🚶

Their API is limiting us to 10 user connections, but if we hit that quickly, we'll consider upgrading so we can get more users connected.

Oh I like this!!

If data were pulled from Android or iOS's own apps, there would be no need to install extra apps.

reply

true. this is just the beginning. We want to pull the data natively but that's a bigger update. Lots of bitcoiners are already on Strava, we've found, so this is a good start

Cool. I don't have a Strava app. I use Smiles to stack sats walking. But I like the idea.

reply

yeah Smiles is cool too. Connecting Strava is just the first step. We're going to try to make the step counter more native to our app so it all happens inside our app. Before that, we should be able to integrate Apple + Google fitness apps. But that's a much larger update haha.

reply

I believe Smiles just pulls from Apple data so I am sure you could do the same.

reply

I think we'd need an Apple Developer account, which is not cheap

reply

is your app android only?

reply

it's a browser based app. not on app stores yet

That sucks.

last I checked it was like $100/year, but that was probably years ago

reply

I would consider this, except the privacy concerns me
