I did read it. I found the point I discuss above to be central the theme of the article: there is a great dispute about the import of a specific change in Bitcoin Core. If the grounds of the dispute are not firm, the rest of the dispute seems less relevant.

Anyway, @Scoresby can ask the author about the meaning of the datacarrier parameter if it's not clear from the tweet.
