That's cool. Which one is the best pair?

reply

Hard to say because I don't know most of them, and I've got no memory of the old ones. Out of this year's new father-son duos, the Portuguese one is easily the best for me (Sergio in 2002 / Francisco in 2026). Probably because I remember the dad so well and they both played for FC Porto. He dropped a hat-trick on Germany back in Euro 2000. Then you got the Haalands (Alf-Inge in '94 / Erling in 2026), but I don't remember the dad playing. I'd also throw in one that's not new this year, the Danish keepers (Peter in '98 / Kasper in 2018-2022). In that one, the dad was way better than the son!

reply

Have any played at the same time or the father been the coach while the son is playing. That has happened a couple times in baseball.

reply

I don't recall that ever happening (FIFA World Cup), but I'm not 100% sure. As teammates? Almost impossible. Now, a dad coaching his son? That sounds doable, but I don't think it actually went down. That Portuguese duo (Sergio/Francisco) happened at FC Porto, the dad was coaching his own son.
