HOW IT WORKS
- Connect via Tor
MINTED is Tor-only. Your IP address never touches our server. Not because we delete it. Because we never receive it.
- Deposit Bitcoin
Request a deposit. A Lightning invoice is generated. Pay it from any Lightning wallet. A 0.75% fee is collected on deposit. The exact fee is shown before you pay.
- Receive bearer tokens
Your Bitcoin is converted into blind-signed eCash tokens. These are bearer instruments — whoever holds them, owns them. They are stored in your browser. No account. No login. No identity.
- Hold, move, or transfer
Tokens are yours. Copy them. Back them up. Send them to someone as a string of text. They are digital bearer cash. Possession is ownership.
- Withdraw Bitcoin
When you're ready, withdraw your Bitcoin via Lightning to any wallet. The only cost on withdrawal is the Lightning network routing fee, which is charged by the network, not by MINTED. No delays. No questions.
- The link is severed
The mint verifies the signature is valid but cannot determine which signing request produced this token. Your deposit and withdrawal are unlinkable. Not difficult to link. Not expensive to link. Impossible to link. The information does not exist
