Yes they will have to trade Jimmy to make it work. It is kind of sad. Can't the league make a one year exception on the cap?
You should be allowed to go 50M over the cap once every decade as long as you are in totality 50M under over the other 9 years.
Or you should be able to get one-off exemptions for goofy gimmicks, like maybe they can spend as much as they want on this team but everyone has to retire after the season.
I like the idea of these three exceptions:
- All In: If you don’t win it all, everyone becomes a free agent.
- Last Dance: Everyone, including coaches, have to retire at the end of the season.
- Hometown Heroes: Can only roster players from the immediate area (or all of Canada for the Raps).
And maybe a tank mode, where you can only have expiring contracts.
