Had to take childcare leave to look after the daughter today and made it count. Slogged until 9.40ish on making all the necessary edits to my Prelim Booklet B paper. The level of utmost accomplishment attained released enough endorphins for me to swear off the marking of 12 remaining sixth graders’ compositions. Subsequently checked out the community library at Blk 137 Yishun Ring Road for the first time. It wasn’t too shabby; it even boasted an ambulance platform and tiny chairs for toddlers to engage in imagine play. The daughter was kinda hooked but whined about the space not providing scooters. Oh well.
Later in the afternoon, I fetched the son early from his student care centre. Together, we embarked on a learning journey to the Children’s Garden at the Botanic Gardens. It was only when we arrived there that I belatedly realised that it comprised a water play area — and not an outdoor playground. Oh well. Did take it slow and take in the various stations, such as Orchard, Grow, and Learn. It was amazing how silent the Botanic Gardens was, a sanctuary amidst Singapore’s boisterousness. Made a mental note to take the children here more often. The son even fulfilled his KPI - to see a monitor lizard in action. All in all, a day that was refreshingly different from the norm.
