I realized I was pretty bad at paying attention to my money. Not broke, just... not paying attention. I used Rocket Money for a while to track spending. It was fine. But my Bitcoin wasn't in there and there was no way to add it. So I'd have this dashboard showing my "full picture" that was missing the asset I cared most about.

But the bigger thing I noticed was that looking at everything in dollars made me think about money less, not more. A dollar amount feels abstract. You get used to it. You stop reacting to it.

I wanted an app that leaned into that. Something that showed my Bitcoin alongside my actual life, priced in a way that made me feel the numbers. I couldn't find it so I built Compass.

You can connect your wallet with an xpub key if you want automatic syncing, or you can just type in a number manually if you're not ready for that step. Either way you get a clean view of your balance in your local currency, with the sat-denominated perspective underneath.

No exchange account. Nothing custodied. Just a clear picture of where you stand.

If you've ever felt like fiat framing was making you numb to your own money, that's exactly what I built this for.

I felt that way for a while too; honestly, spending in dollars using a card feels really good.

But when you view and treat it strictly in terms of sats, the shift—and the feeling—is very real. Thanks for that perspective; I’m going to use it today.
