Have a friend who's an artist: choreography, movement, theatre. She wants to relaunch a performance she had running for a stretch a few years ago, but doesn't have the funds. She doesn't need a lot of money; about 15k USD. Irrespective of that, I've been talking to her about Bitcoin, nostr, free software and their ability to empower users as self sovereign individuals, since we've known each other (~2 years). She's particularly keen on utilizing nostr as a platform for her business: community building, online courses, content sharing etc. she has 20 years of performing and instructing artistic dance, movement, ballet and theater in different settings. She's even developed a "body mind" method which enjoys a degree of success. She was never able though to translate all that into financial success - she ekes out a living but not much else. Hence no funds for anything beyond day to day survival.
What nostr+Bitcoin model would be suitable for her? (There are two main applications here: raising money to stage live shows and paid online courses.)

can definitely feel sympathy for her just making it by with the art she loves and dives into it anyway, that’s an awesome thing to do
I know a project that’s under construction that speaks directly to this use case, however I wouldn’t recommend it now, unfortunately, because it would be a bad experience and not give the best impression for a new curious mind. I would suggest that she become active on nostr platforms to begin to engage with a community that would become potential customers of hers
For sure and I admire her for it, but it's a struggle. Working your butt off and getting shafted by the taxman and high living costs...
Yes my thought as well... she's only active in the normie Instagram world, and even that not so much because she's quite busy either working or trying to develop her business. And there's also a psychological barrier she has to overcome to invest time uploading content to a platform none of her contacts use...

I created an account and it sort of glitched out; I set up some markets, but when you view them, it lists someone else as the creator—I think it's using the nickname I was assigned when I first joined.

Very, nothing happened. Wasn't deep water though. I swam with it in my pocket, but I quickly noticed because it happened before. The previous time I swam for 30+ minutes and nothing happened, too.
I'm more worried about the phone slipping out of my pocket while swimming now.
For comparison, I know a friend who dropped their cheap Android phone into the toilet, and it died.

Yet another busy day. Had 8 teaching periods, which meant that four hours were devoted to making sure that students sat in their place and did not run around like hyenas.
Despite that, I made sure that I ate properly. I actually had brunch one hour before my string of six consecutive lessons - which was something I had never done before in Semester 1. I also threw caution to the wind and had a relaxing lunch, thus reporting 10 mins late for the Staff Contact Time with nary a cafe in the world. So, today felt like things were going my way because I prioritised self-care.

You know, my grandmother has a bag full of those silver coins; my brother had a chain and a bracelet made from a few of them, and he also has other coins from Cuba—which are a bit larger—that are silver too.

that's awesome. it's so cool having a huge stash of silver coins. feels like real treasure and especially when you lay them all out.
funnily enough, this coin (not this exact one, but the same type) is one of the very first silver coins i owned when i was a newbie to collecting. to this day it's one of my fav modern coins. i love the design but also it's so cool that they write on them the purity (900M means 90%) silver and the weight (5G is 5 grams) - i wish all coins had that feature 😄
Those are coins from Cuba's golden age; back then, Cuban currency was almost stronger than the US dollar.
would be interesting to try and tie in some historical blurbs like this onto the coin pages to give this sorta context in the plunda app.
