God, I can't believe that made it into the Senate version.... This doesn't stop the government from creeping into the private sector; rather, it gives it the congressional sign-off for a full-send head-first dive.
The House version of the NDAA had a provision on this, and it wasn't great, but there were at least some good things in it, like requiring the Pentagon to liquidate its investments when it became commercially feasible. The Senate doesn't have anything like this from what I can find which is insanity. Why the Senate in all practical terms creates this but limits the investments to battery and mineral related tech is just wild.
