I don't get it. What are the rules here? Why not just take a shot on goal immediately

It's like a penalty shot in hockey except the net is massive so the goalie's best option is to attack rather than defend the net.

that's why i was confused why the attackers are letting the goalie square off against them first.

They are 35 yards away from the net so I am not sure how high probability of a shot it would be. I am guessing they probably can't take a set shot either they probably have to touch the ball first and then can shoot.

Edit: I checked the rules. Yes they can shoot right away if they want. They have 5 seconds to dribble the ball and do whatever they want but the ball must be over the goaline before the 5 seconds are up or it doesn't count.
