made some great upgrades to photography setup.

i upped the voltage and got a fan and heatsinks setup because the light was getting really hot.

then the light started flickering so i took everything apart and found some melted connections

after soldering some heavier duty wires onto these pins things worked great, but still something was amiss. the coins were well lit, but images looked kinda flat.

i experimented a little and removed this plastic sheet that holds the reflective glass at 45 degrees

and instead levitated the glass on some wire

now the white plastic doesn't reflect this difuse light down onto the coins and the coin pops a lot more

You know, one thing I’d like—I don’t know if you’d find it feasible—is this: in the section showing the coin details, if I click on it, it would automatically filter for coins from that country. I think it would be worth considering

I'm releasing this now! clickable badges will render in yellow.

atm only origin and date are actually clickable tho because that's all i've built search for right now.

will add more down the line!

also added the numista link to the list of badges so if the asset has a numista link it will show a yellow link there along with the coin's info.

I just ran a test on my phone and the filters worked correctly. I'll run another one on my computer later.

thanks!

the origin filter is quite dumb at the moment. i need to improve it. it's kinda complex because borders and countries change over time. different names, different rulers, etc

yeah needs some work

Don't worry, my friend, little by little, we're appreciating the work and effort you're putting into the project.

Reminds me of S9 fan!

NGL I am liking these daily updates and interactions.

Being a Plunda Stan in the saloon felt hollow at times but it looks like we are starting to build a little community!!

But we are as niche as it gets

  • Bitcoin
  • Lightning
  • Stacker News
  • Plunda
  • Coin collecting

But I absolutely love it!

it's super enjoyable, been having a great time these last few days with all this.

but we'll see how long things stay niche... i think i figured out the growth hack to grow plunda to the first 1000 users.

I'm thinking of doing live auctions on platforms like Whatnot and Drip. I'll tie plunda in to the auction in many interactive ways, and give winning bidders free loot on plunda to win them over

right now most of the live auctions are quite dry. i think bringing more dynamism and a faster pace to the auctions will blow it up.

and using coin photography machine live during the auction with be a cool way to level up over the competition

You are deep in the coin collection scene so I am unsure how popular is. I know trade cards are getting out of hand. But I like the idea for growth for sure!

But I know once platforms like SN and Plunda grow it will never be the same.

The tradeoffs with growth. All walks of life that comes with it both for better and for worse

it's true and i do think that growth at all cost is a very fiat mindset.

right now it's just my dream to have active and popping marketplace going. want it to have a stock trading pit vibe

if there were even 100 daily active users it'd be pretty close to that, and like 500 to 1000 would be fully there

A huge difference... the new coins are turning out great!!
