Can someone please explain the arguments for smaller blocks and how it would stop inscriptions?
Yesterday I skimmed through the (heated?) post about inscribing the planet and this is something that wasn’t clear to me.
And a year ago, when there was minimal mempool activity, smaller blocks were also being argued for as there were concerns about security budgets
So people want smaller blocks both when mempool full and when empty, what gives?
Can someone help me understand what’s going on?
Well I think you've pointed out the issue right? This much blockspace is only useful for stupid shit. Smaller blockspace might mean people need to pay more for transactions, but as a result the stupid shit will be priced out and never make it into a block.

But there are 17,000 transactions in the mempool at the moment. I guess I just don’t get how it change anything.

I am with you there. Seems to me that if bitcoin is used more widely, mempools would be congested as hell and you'd never get anything through unless you pay insane amount of fees. If you make the blocks smaller, this would be even worse wouldn't it?

Also to be more clear, its obviously the segwit space that needs reduced specifically

This is an interesting concept.

Cool article, cool concept. What’s the status of factories?
And, sorry, it’s not obvious to me that it’s segwit space that needs to be reduced. And it’s not obvious to me how factories connect back to the question on reducing the block size.
Where can I learn more about block space? I’m not completely new, been around couple years, and I don’t think I’m a complete idiot. Like, I like to think there’s hope I might make it, but I’m also not a dev, but is something like Mastering Bitcoin book good place to start? Or is there anything less technical that you know of?
Thanks
