I can't help noticing that many of the people who loudly support BIP110 are also very loud about their religion.

Is this something you have noticed?

If so, why do you think it is?

I'm a Christian. I was pro-BIP110 but after I dove deeper into opposing viewpoints, I changed to anti-BIP110

It really depends on whether people trust or verify, that's independent from their faith. There are lots of Christians who do not support BIP110.

I am more interested in whether there is a correlation between the times someone had a consensual sex last month and whether he/she supports/is against/doesn't care about bip 110

reply

Simple.

These people are more easily swayed by a powerful narrative or story. They are more likely to make decisions based on how they feel, rather than on what is true. They are less likely to do technical deep-dives, or give strong consideration to opposing viewpoints.

i also believe that there is a much stronger tendency toward emotion in the forkcoiners.

reply

Forkcoiners.... and church goers.

I don't think your premise is true in the first place. Any data support such a claim?

Here is a partial list of the supporters of BIP110, many of whom are very vocal and talk about morals when describing why bip110 is important:

Luke Dashjr

Mechanic

Chris Guida

dathon ohm

Adam Simecka

Matteo Pellegrini

Beautyon

Nick Szabo

dont know what hodlonaut believes, but he uses similar moral language

i could go on but i wont because i figure you will say that i could find just as many christians on the anti-bip110 side. which may be true. but it is the case that one of the main arguments for bip110 has been that there is a moral risk as szabo put it because people may put naughty files in the blockchain. to me, there is a clear correlation.

I think there's more Christians in bitcoin on average than in the general population.

IMO it was because during COVID, governments were trying to shut down churches which opened the eyes of many Christians to government overreach, and made them see the desirability of an uncensorable money.
