And why would anyone do that? Well, to give it the benefit of the doubt, the pitch is the perks: up to a 6% annual return, direct deposit that comes up to two days before you actually get paid, free ATMs, and a metal Visa card that has your @handle on it and gets you 3% cash back. But the fintech company you’re signing up to do business with, X Payments LLC “is not an FDIC-insured bank.” And the FDIC “only covers the failure of an insured bank,” X Money has disclaimed.
I wonder if we’ll see discounts on Teslas, Starlinks, boring tunnel trips, and other vertically integrated perks.
X already has a bit of an identity crisis. Yet it doesn’t seem to bother bitcoiners much. So maybe lots-of-people-are-here is enough to make people do everything there.
I smell a CBDC voucher system tied to political opinions and a social credit score based on your X posts.
The more divisive hatred you spew to help bring in the need for surveillance tech, the lower your X money loan interest rates.
I was expecting more than this. Will sending money in X to other X’ers be easier!
I think it will be eventually. This is just phase 1 afaict.
Presumably only available in the US, since they don't bother to mention
I doubt this gets much traction.
Have you met anyone that attends the church of elon? There are a lot of elonboys out there. There are enough to kickstart a network effect in just about anything he does at this point.
None in India and China though. China has its own 'everything app' while India has the advantage of UPI. I doubt that Elon Church will be relevant in the long run without Indo-china participants.
