That's really impressive. We could stand to learn a thing or two in the US from Finnish schools. I think a major issue is that teaching is not a respected profession currently. Having tried to teach grade school aged kids even briefly though, I can confidently say it's a whole different skillset than engineering and should probably warrant at least as much professional respect given how impactful it can be on the next generation.

now im glad i posted this crowdsourcing post because what is second nature to me (sitting still in a classroom) is absurd to you haha. He actually said the same thing during tonight’s dinner - where is the play time that was so abundant in his kindergarten? Oh well

He's still young. What age is first grade like 5 or 6? I personally don't think kids should be stuck in school all day at that age which is why I homeschool mine. Outside of homeschooling check out the normal schooling system in Finland here:
