lol. That's actually the one thing you can pay directly with sats. Your point stands but your example is wrong.
What ISP in America takes Bitcoin? Drop the name so we can all drop our current ISPs
silentlink, nadanada. have fun staying kyc'd.
Silent link leverages existing tech. When you pay them in bitcoin they are converting to fiat and paying the major telecom companies.
Nice try though.
Why do you care about what your counterparty does with their sats?
I don’t. I am making my point that no one truly lives on a bitcoin standard when the people you pay dump it for fiat to pay whatever producer/ provider you are buying goods and services from
"Meaningless" is too strong a term.
By preferentially doing business with merchants who accept bitcoin, you are indirectly incentivizing development of supply chains based in bitcoin. That's because those merchants now have more bitcoin and will be better able to pay a supplier in bitcoin, and those suppliers now have more bitcoin to pay their suppliers with, and so on.
The supply chain builds out organically and it pretty much has to do so. Centrally planning a supply chain in a modern economy is not going to get you very far.
Huh? No I think that now you're trying to be a bigger purist than Darth.
What I do with my sats is my business. What my business partners do with theirs is their business.
You cannot reflect what someone else does on my standards (nor can one really comment on another's standards, but whatevs) that is not correct. I spend sats, I spend sats. We can argue about paying T-mobile through bitrefill, but even then, I'm still paying in sats. My MoE is Bitcoin. Whether then my supplier cannot match their liabilities to also be in sats is simply irrelevant to my standard.
If you buy something in USD from an importer that has to pay their supplier in CAD, are you not living on a USD standard? I say you are. You're not touching CAD.
For the individual that is fine. But on a macro scale it doesn’t really mean much for the exchange of goods and services.
What irritates me is when bitcoiners who are purists like darth brow beat people because they have a mortgage or use visa card loaded up with sats to pay for things in the real economy.
I think this is the best way to look at it.
So true 100% no ISP takes bitcoin for payment so anyone living on a bitcoin standard is using some hack to pay their fiat bills
