That's rough. It sounds like this particular college in Ohio never adapted to the changing conditions after covid and the administration buried their heads in the sand until it was too late.
It also makes me wonder what the end result of an endowment really is. My own alma mater has an endowment of only ~$30K per student, which is pretty tiny. And yet tuition is still reasonable, the class sizes are small and research opportunities for students and faculty are abundant. Does a large endowment just mean more money spent on sports and administration overhead? (My college had no sports scholarships - we barely had any sports.)
