Why is Motley Fool doubling down on Rocket Lab (RKLB)?
The thesis is bigger than “space is the future.” Motley Fool sees Rocket Lab as a founder-led, vertically integrated space company that can design satellites, manufacture them, launch them, and eventually provide more of the full space-services stack.
The bull case rests on:
- Peter Beck’s leadership and large ownership stake
- roughly 40% expected annual revenue growth
- rising defense and government contracts
- progress toward the larger Neutron rocket
- a space economy projected to grow toward $1.8 trillion by 2035
But the valuation is difficult to ignore. Rocket Lab is already priced at roughly 45× forward sales, while SpaceX now appears cheaper on a forward-revenue basis and is growing faster.
So the real question may not be whether Rocket Lab is a great company. It may be whether too much of that future success is already priced into the stock. Would you rather own Rocket Lab, SpaceX, or neither at today’s valuations?
SpaceX for me and LUNR!
I like Space X at 1T market cap. I hope it gets there. I can stomach 30x revenue with the expected growth (even though 30x is still insane) but anything beyond that is just too ridiculous for me.
DCA baby!
65x revenue.
